About FoundationLink

Your data foundations shouldn’t hold back your transformation.

When information sits across separate systems and spreadsheets, getting reliable answers takes time. Teams spend hours reconciling figures, reports disagree and every new requirement can mean more development work. FoundationLink combines reusable tools, data models and delivery patterns to help you establish a usable data platform without building everything from scratch.

Customer stories

One margin question. A foundation for many more.

The challenge

A growing multi-brand retailer needed a reliable view of revenue, costs and margin. Information was spread across operational systems and Finance-managed inputs, with inconsistent definitions and missing cost data.

The approach

Lashan brought the data together, worked with Finance to agree the reporting rules and introduced repeatable quality checks. The platform preserved the source information so figures could be traced and explained.

The foundation created

The engagement established a reusable foundation for margin reporting, designed to support additional business needs without rebuilding the underlying platform each time.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, because we’re not starting from a blank page. The patterns, models and pipelines already exist; the 12 to 16 weeks is spent shaping them to your sources. Where you land in that range depends on how many systems you have and what profiling turns up in them, which is why profiling comes first.

No. FoundationLink runs on the major cloud data platforms and we’ve deployed it on more than one. If you’ve already committed to a provider, we build there. If you haven’t, we’ll give you a recommendation and the reasoning, and you decide.

They keep running while we build. We don’t switch anything off until the replacement reconciles against it, and you’ve seen the reconciliation. Running both in parallel for a period is normal and we plan for it.

Fewer than you’d think, and possibly none in the strict sense. We need people who know what the data means (finance, operations, the owners of the definitions). The build itself is ours. After handover, your existing analysts and data people run the platform, which is the whole design.

It’s the normal starting point. Profiling tells you how bad, specifically, and what it’ll cost to fix. Some of it gets cleansed, some gets migrated with a flag on it, and some gets left behind with a documented decision. What doesn’t happen is loading known-bad data without saying so and letting you find it in UAT.

A warehouse is storage and compute. It doesn’t tell you what a data means, who owns that definition, or how to prove a figure to an auditor. FoundationLink is the modelling, governance and delivery method that goes on top. You’ll still need somewhere to put the data.
