Digital transformation programmes often begin with a period of discovery—mapping how things work today, defining how they should work tomorrow, and bringing teams together around a shared view of change. Organisations use many techniques to do this, and SIPOC is just one of them. Whether it’s SIPOC, journey maps, service blueprints, or any method that captures the As-Is and To-Be state, the aim is the same: create clarity before technology is introduced. This article uses SIPOC as the example, but the principles apply across any transformation approach where the business has defined its future processes and expects technology to bring them to life.
